Opera America New Works Showcase

The Cowgirls were honored to be featured performers at the New Works Showcase at BAM Cafe, presented as a part of Opera America's New Works Forum in January.  In addition to being on a program with works by amazing composers including Rhiannon Giddens and Matt Schickele, we also had multiple guest stars, including Joe Brent on Mandolin (9 Horses, Oklahoma on Broadway), Brent McBeth (Parallel Exit, Big Apple Circus) tap dancing to Rossini, and Philippa Thompson (Bang on a Can) featured on our rendition of Mon Coeur S'ouvre a ta Voix... on musical saw!

Letters That You Will Not Get:
Women's Voices from the Great War
After a successful premier of Kirsten Volness, Susan Werbe and Kate Holland's moving piece on a Dec. 2018 concert with Hotel Elefant, this song cycle is being picked up for development by The American Opera Project.  The Opera Cowgirls look forward to being a part of the workshop this summer, hopefully culminating in performances in 2021.

Avaloch Farm Music Institute

The Opera Cowgirls returned to Avaloch this summer in June!  After an amazingly productive 2018 residency, the full band was really excited to get into the practice room.  Check out some of our new arrangements here in behind the scenes footage from our rehearsals and performances at the New Hampshire music festival.
